JTS Moves to Defense Health Agency (DHA)
As of 05 Aug, JTS has transitioned to DHA in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act of 2017. The realignment reflects the JTS commitment to the Tri Services. The move broadens JTS' reach and responsibilities to serve as the expert reference for all trauma care provided across the military health system. JTS will continue to establish standards of care for trauma services provided at military treatment facilities by implementing research from DoD Centers of Excellence into clinical trauma care standards. JTS will become more active in training by driving the incorporation of lessons learned from military-civilian trauma education and training partnerships into clinical practice. Under the DHA, the JTS will also expand its data capture and collection capabilities of its DoD Trauma Registry with the addition of special injury registries.
